About Dr. Seuss

Dr. Seuss, born Theodor Seuss Geisel (1904-1991), was one of the most beloved children's authors of all time. Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, he wrote and illustrated over 60 books that have sold more than 600 million copies worldwide. His first book, And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, was rejected 27 times before publication. Known for rhyming stories and imaginative illustrations, his works include The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas! He received a Pulitzer Prize in 1984, three Academy Awards, and two Peabody Awards.
